Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for October 3-9, 2022 were announced Wednesday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Freshmen Contrax (Colson Ford, esports) and Sandra Garcia (women's soccer) highlight the week's honors.

Contrax, who hails from Meadow Bridge, West Virginia, helped lead the Fortnite Duos squad of himself and DACoop70 (Jacob Cooper) to an 11th place finish out of 54 teams in the NACE StarLeague tournament. The finish gave the Golden Bears an automatic bid into the collegiate championship.

A native of Zaragoza, Spain, Garcia is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation (NAIA) with a total of 109 saves including the 27 stops made during the week of October 3-9 in losses to Oakland City and Indiana University Kokomo.
