Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for October 7-13, 2024 were announced Wednesday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Junior Waleed Alghamdi (esports) and sophomore Ivana Burgos (volleyball)  highlight the week's honors.

Alghamdi (Fargo), who hails from Beckley, W.Va., led the Rocket League squad to a 3-1 victory of the Georgia Bulldogs. Fargo recorded six goals, two assists and five saves.

A native of Coamo, Puerto Rico, Burgos picked up 50 digs and put down 29 kills as the Golden Bears finished 2-1 last week. The sophomore also had two total blocks, a service ace and an assist.
