Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 22–28, 2025, were announced Sunday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are sophomore Carmine Bernardo (men’s swimming) and junior Alvaro Iglesias Pascual (golf).

Iglesias Pascual, a native of Castellón, Spain, tied for first at the Roger Merb Invitational with rounds of 68 and 71 for a 5-under-par 139. He went on to win the individual title in a one-hole playoff, securing the tournament victory. His performance also propelled WVU Tech to the team championship by one stroke over Georgetown, marking the Golden Bears’ first team title of the fall season.
