Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 29–October 5, 2025, were announced Monday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are freshmen Heidar Bjarnason (men’s golf) and Wyatt Plumley (esports – Overwatch 2 / Marvel Rivals, “Plum”).

Bjarnason, from Selfoss, Iceland, claimed medalist honors at the River States Conference Fall Preview at The Resort at Glade Springs. The freshman fired rounds of 69 and 71 for a four-under-par 140, topping an 11-team, 97-player field and leading the Golden Bears to their second straight team championship. Bjarnason finished with nine birdies and a five-stroke advantage, marking his first collegiate tournament victory and Tech’s third individual medalist of the fall.
