The Golden Bear competed in the River States Conference Indoor Championship, earning points for Tech with a top finish.

Nelson also competed in the race walk, competing for 3,000 meters during the championship. A native of Shrewsbury, West Virginia, Nelson finished second overall with a time of 26:03.65.
