Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 22–28, 2025, were announced Sunday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are sophomore Carmine Bernardo (men’s swimming) and junior Alvaro Iglesias Pascual (golf).

Bernardo, from Salerno, Italy, opened the season with two gold medals at the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy. He touched first in both the 100 butterfly (52.50) and 200 butterfly (1:56.21), posting personal-best times in each. The sophomore added top-10 finishes in freestyle events and strong relay legs while leading all Golden Bears with 54.5 points at the meet.
