CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The WVU Tech men's soccer team used eight goals from five different players en route to a 8-1 victory over the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
Tyler Fabian led the way with three goals while
Joe Jackson netted two and Dennis Furst, Dominik Idel, and
Tobee Oleyele each put one in the back of the net.
The Golden Bears now hold a 6-1-1 record while the Mount drops to 1-6 overall. Tech outshot the Lions 31 attempts to six and allowed just four shots on goal in its sixth win of the season.
Jackson put the Golden Bears on the board early, netting the first goal of the match in the seventh minute of play. The senior sent the ball in from a header on an assist from
Bryce Davenport to give WVU Tech a 1-0 lead.
Tech got several good looks over the next 24 minutes but came up short until Fabian drilled a ball into the net on an assist from Jackson to beat keeper Jonathan Hurley.
The Blue and Gold wasted no time getting on the board again, scoring three goals over the next ten minutes. Fabian scored the third goal from an Idel assist and 32 seconds later Oleyele dropped the ball in the net on an assist from Fabian.
With the score 4-0, Oleyele sent the ball to Idel who tapped it into the net. Jackson got on the board again when Fabian notched his second assist.
To finish out the game, Furst netted a goal with a
Sam Laughton assist and Fabian put in his third goal of the game when Oleyele sent the ball his way to get the assist.
Goalie
Hunter Moles stopped two shots, allowing one in 90 minutes of play.
WVU Tech hits the road for their next match-up against Point Park University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sept. 17 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
