Tech Wins on Road at Northwestern (Ohio)

LIMA, Ohio - With two players in double figures, the WVU Tech women's basketball team defeated the University of Northwestern (Ohio) 86-82 Tuesday evening at Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio.

With the victory, the Golden Bears improve to 2-3, the Racers fall to 2-1 this season.

After both teams traded the lead seven times in the first half, the Golden Bears found themselves ahead 40-27 at intermission. However, Northwestern managed to outscore Tech in the second half, 55-46 to keep the game close.

Senior Nia Nolan led the team with 27 points in 37 minutes of play. Nolan went 9-for-13 from the field and 7-for-10 at the free throw line. The senior produced two assists and a steal vs. the Racers, she is ranked sixth in total assists and steals currently (NAIA DI).

Junior Cheyanna Lusk recorded a double-double with 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Lusk's efforts on the boards marked a new career-high for the Cyclone, West Virginia native. The junior also managed three steals and is currently ranked ninth in total steals (NAIA DI).

The Golden Bears forced UNOH into 19 turnovers, coming away with nine steals. Tech held advantage over the Racers on second chance points, 19-11.

The women return to the hardwood when they host Virginia University of Lynchburg Homecoming weekend, Nov. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the Baisi Athletic Center.
