MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - WVU Tech men's basketball has won five consecutive games for a perfect 5-0 record so far this season. The Golden Bears defeated Ohio State University-Newark, 97-76 in front of a Homecoming crowd Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears finished with five players in double-digits, two earning double-doubles, senior forward
Jauries Thomas and senior center
Sharife Sergeant. Thomas produced a game-high 20 points and 15 rebounds while Sergeant had 15 points pulling down a game-high 13 boards.
Finishing out the top contributors for Tech include sophomore point guard
Ra'Shaud Kincaid, senior guard
Jaren Marino and senior guard
Leon Cooper, Jr. with 11 points a piece. Freshman guard
Juwuan Wilson produced eight rebounds while adding seven points.
As a team, the Golden Bears were 17-for-28 (60.7 percent) from the free throw line and 35-for-84 (41.7 percent) from the field, holding advantages in points off turnovers (24-14), points in the paint (44-18) and second chance points (32-8).
Tech will return to the court when they face NCAA DI foe Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Action on November 18 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
