MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The WVU Tech women's basketball team lost to Bluefield State University 78-72 Wednesday night at the Baisi Athletic Center.
Tech's (5-11) offensive attack was led by four players in double figures. Junior
Cheyanne Lusk led the way with a double-double effort of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Senior
Nia Nolan produced 16 points and a team-high six assists.
Freshman
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo and sophomore
Elizabeth Evans added 12 points each. Ruiz-Berdejo recorded a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds while blocking three Bluefield State shots. Evans had two steals and one each of rebounds, assists and blocks.
As a team, Tech shot 39.7 percent (25-for-63) from the field and 68.0 percent (17-for-25) from the foul line. The Golden Bears held advantages in assists (16-14), rebounds (46-42), second chance points (18-16) and fast break points (12-8).
Charity Harris led Bluefield State with a game-high 24 points and eight assists.
The Gold and Blue will look to snap their losing streak 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 17) when they travels to the University of Rio Grande (Ohio).
