RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Four Golden Bears scored in double-digits for WVU Tech women's basketball but the team dropped the game, 89-64 to the University of Rio Grande Saturday Afternoon. Tech is now 5-12 this season while the RedStorm improve to 12-6.
Coming off the bench, seniors
Roche Wimberly and
Noelani Woodson and junior
LaKisha Adkins led the way with 12 points each. Woodson dropped in a personal season-high four three-pointers out of seven attempts while grabbing a game-high three steals. Adkins had seven boards and two assists while Wimberly pulled down six rebounds.
Freshman
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo and junior
Courtney Fisher had seven points each to round out the top offensive contributors for Tech. Ruiz-Berdejo had a team-high nine rebounds, five offensive, while Fisher grabbed six rebounds.
As a team, Tech was 22-for-35 (62.9 percent) from the free throw line. The Golden Bears held the advantage in bench points, 45-23.
Rio was led by Brianna Thomas who scored 20 points.
WVU Tech will hit the road again to face Ohio Christian University on January 19. The match-up is now scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in Circleville, Ohio.
