Jauries Thomas connected for 19 points and fellow classmates
Sharife Sergeant and
Leon Cooper, Jr. added 14 and ten points respectively to lead the WVU Tech men's basketball team to a 77-62 victory over the University of Maine at Fort Kent in the Fisher College Classic Friday evening.
The win improves the Golden Bears record to 14-5 this season while the Bengals are now 5-9.
Thomas was 9-for-16 from the field also producing his 12
th double-double effort of the season with a game- and career-high of 18 rebounds.
Senior
Jaren Marino was also a force on the board, pulling down eight rebounds to go with his seven points. Sergeant had six rebounds while Cooper had four.
Sophomore
Ra'Shaud Kincaid led the game and team with seven assists while posting eight points and two steals.
The Golden Bears outrebounded their opponent 46-29 while forcing 11 Bengal miscues. As a team, Tech shot 51.7 percent (30-for-58) from the field, 50.0 percent (8-for-16) from three-point range and 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from the foul line.
Marquis Glenn and Joe McCloskey scored 16 points and pulled six rebounds to lead the Bengals.
Tech will finish their time at the Fisher College Classic Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against host school, Fisher College.
