MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The WVU Tech women's basketball team grabbed a victory Saturday afternoon with a 72-63 win at University of the Cumberlands. The triumph improves Tech's record to 7-13 while the Patriots drop to 11-9.
Tech shot their second season-best 54.9 percent (28-for-51) from the floor offensively and the 63 points allowed were the third-lowest this season for the Golden Bears on the defensive end.
Senior
Nia Nolan posted a game-high 21 points with two rebounds. Freshman
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo registered her sixth double-double of the season with a 15-point, 13-rebound performance.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Evans recorded a season-best 18 points. Evans, who also had an assist and a rebound, went 8-for-13 from the field and 2-for-5 from three-point range.
Senior
Roche Wimberly joined her teammates in a double-figure effort with 11 points while pulling down three boards. Junior
Cheyanne Lusk led the game with six assists and had the game-high with five steals. The junior also posted six rebounds for the Golden Bears.
Heather Jolley scored 17 points in the losing effort for the Cumberlands.
The Golden Bears will look for a second consecutive win when they return home to the Baisi Athletic Center to play Washington Adventist University 5:30 p.m., Monday, January 26.
