Natanya Shingler each marked their first collegiate goals and WVU Tech women's soccer captured their sixth shutout victory of the season over KIAC foe Brescia University, 7-0 Thursday.
The win in Beckley, West Virginia boosts Tech's record to 10-3, 3-2 (KIAC) while the Bearcats fall to 2-10, 0-5 (KIAC).
Love netted two of the Golden Bears' goals (19' and 48') while junior
Alexandra Klein (15'), seniors
Jessica Guzman (60') and
Krystin Barton (67'), sophomore
Ruby Bingham (72') and Shingler (74) marked one each.
The assists were credited to seniors
Brenda Rivera and
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo, junior
Alex Blumer, Love and Bingham (x2).
In goal, the win was awarded to sophomore
Martha Reyna (4-1) after 64 minutes of play and one save. Freshman goalkeeper
Brianna Ovalle made her collegiate debut, stopping a Bearcat ball in 27 minutes of play.
The Gold and Blue will next face Cincinnati Christian University Saturday for another KIAC match-up. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Beckley, West Virginia at the Paul Cline Memorial Complex.
