MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — The WVU Tech volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches at a home tri-match Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears (2-24) fell in three sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-21) to Davis & Elkins College before winning the nightcap over Emory & Henry College in five games (23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 15-11).
Tonight the Golden Bears wore pink during their match-up against E&H in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team is also hosting a Color Run/Walk on Saturday, October 31 to help raise funds for the
CAMC Cancer Center in Charleston, West Virginia to support women who cannot afford breast cancer screenings.
Against the Senators, freshman
Madeline Gilson finished with a game-high 15 digs while marking an assist. Senior
Jacque Carroll had a team-high seven kills to go with an ace and a dig while senior
Jaymee Hannan added a team-high 17 assists.
Junior
Keyonna Morrow led the Gold and Blue in kills with a career- and match-high 19 against Emory & Henry. Gilson tallied 28 digs also marking a career- and match-high. Senior
Jaymee Hannan marked a season- and match-high 27 assists.
Carroll tallied 17 kills and two blocks while freshman
Ana Monteiro had 24 assists and junior
Michala Dean had 15 digs.
Tech takes on (RV) Indiana University-Kokomo for a KIAC contest at 3 p.m. on Friday for Senior Day and to help kickoff Homecoming weekend at WVU Tech.
