WILMORE, Ky. -- Asbury (Ky.) University hosts WVU Tech in a women's soccer matchup for the "KIAC Game of the Week". Kickoff is 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Wilmore, Ky. Game Coverage includes Live Video via Stretch Internet and Live Stats on Dakstats.

WVU Tech (7-2, 1-1 KIAC), a new conference member this year, has won seven of its first nine games overall and is off to a 1-1 start in KIAC play. Asbury (5-3-1, 0-0 KIAC) also has a winning record overall against a tough schedule but plays its first KIAC game of the season.

It's an early season matchup in which both teams are vying for an early edge in the KIAC standings. Asbury was predicted to finish second in the KIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll (Aug. 14) whereas WVU Tech was predicted to finish in a tie for fourth. Thursday night is the first of eight KIAC games for Asbury, and WVU Tech still has three-quarters of its conference schedule yet to play.

WVU Tech had won six in a row before losing its last game, 3-2 at Salem College Oct. 2. Asbury had been unbeaten in its previous six games before dropping its most-recent game to Marian (Ind.), 3-1, a team that is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25.

WVU Tech enters the game ranking first in the KIAC in scoring with 3.00 goals per game, and Asbury is fourth with 2.11 goals per game. The Golden Bears also have the second-best scoring defense in the conference with 1.22 goals allowed per game. Asbury's defense is not far behind with 1.33 goals against per game to rank third in the KIAC.

Tristen Kilman leads WVU Tech with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Alyssa Capton is next with 10 points on five goals. Brianna Enger has scored four goals and tallied one assist for nine points. Sydney Schaeffer and Martha Reyna have split the goalkeeping duties this year.

Teryn Wright leads Asbury with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Mia Wiersema is also in double-digits with 10 points coming on four goals and two assists. Emily Hubbuch is next with eight points. Goalkeeper Brooke Perkins has started all nine games.
