CAMPBELLSVILLE, Kentucky — WVU Tech men's soccer concluded their 2015 season on Saturday night after they played to a 4-2 loss to No. 15 Campbellsville University in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The Golden Bears finish their campaign with a record of 16-3 overall and 5-2 as newcomers in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC).
Sophomore
Jose Segarra led Tech with a pair of goals on the night, but it was not enough as the Tigers came back from two goals behind. Segarra found the back of the net in the third minute off the assist of junior
Joaquin Rodriguez while grabbing his second score in minute fourteen.
Segarra had five shots (three on goal) while Rodriguez posted two shots on goal.
In goal, junior
Hunter Moles recorded a save for the Golden Bears in 90 minutes of play.
Tech outshot their opponent 17-14 while also holding the advantage in corner kicks, 5-4.
The team finished the season with six top-five rankings in NAIA DI play including No. 1 in shots on goal per game (13.440), No. 3 in shots per game (23.060), No. 4 in assists per game (3.330) and No. 5 in goals per game (4.220), total assists (60) and total goals (76).
