MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — With two players in double figures, including a career-high 30 points for senior
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo, the WVU Tech women's basketball team defeated Bluefield College (Virginia) 74-56 Tuesday evening in the Baisi Athletic Center.
The Golden Bears have a 2-0 record while the Rams are 1-1 early in their 2015-16 campaigns.
Ruiz-Berdejo's scoring efforts led the team after 24 minutes of play. The Sevilla, Spain native went 10-for-15 from the field and 10-for-13 from the free throw line while pulling down nine rebounds and producing two steals, a block and an assist. Early this season, Ruiz-Berdejo holds top rankings in the NAIA DII including No. 1 in total rebounds per game (28) and the No. 2 spot for offensive (10) and defensive (18) rebounds per game.

Courtney Fisher was just shy of a double-double with a game-high ten rebounds, including six offensive, to go with nine points. Freshman
Savannah Shamblin was a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line and had 15 points, playing the entire game for the Golden Bears.
Senior
LaKisha Adkins dished a game-high seven assists while marking eight points, a game-high three steals, two rebounds and a block.
The Golden Bears forced the Rams into 17 turnovers, coming away with 10 steals. Tech held advantage over Bluefield in points off turnovers (18-7), second chance points (22-14) and points in the paint (38-22).
The team returns to the hardwood when they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio to face Shawnee State University, Saturday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
