WISE, Virginia — The WVU Tech women's basketball team lost to The University of Virgnia's College at Wise 94-51 Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears are now 4-7 this season while the Cavaliers improve to 5-2.
Freshman
Savannah Shamblin finished with 15 points while grabbing four rebounds. The guard also dished a team-high five assists and is currently ranked No. 16 in the NAIA DII averaging 4.4 assists per game.
Senior guard
LaKisha Adkins and freshman
Breanna Propst scored 11 points each. Propst pulled down a career- and game-high 15 boards while Adkins had four.
Senior
Courtney Fisher now has 107 rebounds this season after posting ten against the Cavaliers. Fisher holds two top-20 rankings in the NAIA DII including No. 6 in offensive rebounds per game (4.6) and No. 19 in total rebounds per game (9.7).
Tech was held to 26.5 percent (22-for-83) shooting from the field while UVA-Wise shot 44.9 percent (35-for-78) from the field.
Blair Harding led the Cavaliers and the game with 23 points and six assists.
The team will return to the hardwood for a two-game home stand when they host Newport News Apprentice School December 17 for a non-conference match-up before playing host to Indiana University Southeast December 19 for Tech's third KIAC contest this season.
