SAVANNAH, Georgia - WVU Tech baseball defeated the University of Pikeville, 2-0 and the University of Rio Grande, 14-6 Saturday in Savannah, Georgia. The Golden Bears improve to 4-6 with the wins while UPIKE is now 3-4 and Rio Grande 5-7.

Josh Smetana (1-2) drew the start on the mound, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four in 4.2 innings of work. Closer junior

Game Two | WVU Tech 14 - Rio Grande 6
Sophomore Austin Southcott (2-0) took the win in five innings on the mound, racking up seven strike outs while only giving up four hits and two earned runs.
Diaz and Utterback finished with three hits each and two and three RBI respectively. Rodriguez (2), freshman Michael Britt (1), senior Austin Lucas (1) and I. Southcott (2) also recorded RBI.
The Gold and Blue will return to action tomorrow, Sunday in Savannah, Georgia to finish out the weekend against Rio Grande (1:00 p.m.) and UPIKE (4:00 p.m.).
