BLUEFIELD, West Virginia - WVU Tech women's basketball defeated Bluefield State College Tuesday evening, 86-79. The Golden Bears are enjoying a five-game win streak and hold a record of 11-13 this season, the Blues fall to 14-6.
The five-game win streak marks the longest consecutive victories by Tech since 2013. Four Golden Bears recorded double-digit efforts and the team had a 54.1 percent (33-for-61) shooting performance.
Senior
Nia Nolan posted 23 points on an 8-for-15 effort from the field while going 6-for-8 from the foul line for the game-high. The Dayton, Ohio native also recorded five assists and two steals.
Senior
Roche Wimberly scored a season-high 21 points and pulled down four rebounds while stealing and blocking two Blues' balls. Junior
Cheyanne Lusk had 14 points and sophomore
Elizabeth Evans marked 12 points. Lusk dished three assists, had four rebounds and recorded three assists. Evans was 4-for-5 from the free throw line and pulled down two boards.
Freshman
Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo had five rebounds for the team-high while posting eight points, a block and a steal.
Tech led in points off turnovers (20-19) and points in the paint (48-38).
Bluefield State's Charity Harris had a game-high 26 points with five rebounds and assists.
February 8 the Golden Bears will travel to Bluefield, Virginia to face Bluefield College in hopes to grab their sixth consecutive win.
