Golden Bears Cruise to Victory over Parkersburg

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - WVU Tech men's basketball celebrated seniors Sharife Sergeant, Jauries Thomas, Leon Cooper, Jr. and Jaren Marino this evening in the Baisi Athletic Center for their final regular season game. Tech defeated West Virginia University at Parkersburg, 89-58 for their third consecutive victory.

The Golden Bears will head into the Association of Independent Institutions as the No. 2 seed and with a record of 22-8. The Hawks fall to 12-15 this season.

Tech was led by Cooper who scored 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. The Freeport, Bahamas native also pulled down four boards while dishing four assists and blocking a Hawk ball.

Thomas contributed with 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Junior Eddie Gordon finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Also in double figures, Marino scored 11 points and freshman Juwuan Wilson had 10. Marino produced a team-high six assists and Wilson had a double-double effort with 10 boards.

Sophomore Ra'Shaud Kincaid had a solid game with eight points and rebounds (five offensive) to go with five assists and three steals.

As a team, Tech shot 42.7 percent (32-for-75) from the field while holding their opponent to just a 29.2 percent (21-for-72) shooting performance.

Curl Dixon paced the Hawks with 17 points and two rebounds.

WVU Tech will host the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division I Tournament in Montgomery, West Virginia March 5-7. For more details about the tournament head to Tournament Central.
