Zack Thomas Saturday as they faced No. 2 (NAIA DI Coaches' Poll) Georgia Gwinnett College.
WVU Tech fell to the Grizzlies 2-1 before game two of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out in Beckley, West Virginia. Tech is now 27-23 in 2015 while Georgia Gwinnett holds a 43-9 record.
Junior
Dylan Harvey led Tech's offense, hitting a triple to left center, driving in junior
Doug Prather for the RBI. Prather, sophomores
Jayson Sykora and
Trevor Lam, Diaz and Lucas had a hit each for the Golden Bears.
Maynard marked his 20
th career stolen base while Prather also marked a stolen base.
Junior
Kyle Sager (5-3) got the start on the mound for the Gold and Blue and went six innings, giving up two runs while striking out two batters. Chavez closed out the game, striking out one opponent.
The Golden Bears will look to return to their winning ways in a doubleheader versus Ohio Valley University Tuesday, first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
