WVU Tech Softball Sweeps Ohio Christian, 8-0, 8-4

SMITHERS, West Virginia - The WVU Tech softball team completed a doubleheader sweep over Ohio Christian University, 8-0 (six innings) and 8-4 at Terry E. Ellis Field to improve to 14-22 on the season. Thursday marked the third time Tech has shut out its opponent this season.

Freshman MaKayla Waugh registered her third home run of the season to lead the game off for the Golden Bears, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, a RBI and a double.

Junior Genna Trippett and freshmen Kayla Harbin and Baylee Harless finished with two hits and a double a piece. Trippett produced a RBI while Harbin also batted a run in while scoring two runs for Tech.

In the circle, sophomore Mackenzie Wilson (7-8) held the Trailblazers to just one hit for the complete game, striking out seven batters for the shutout.

The Golden Bears had seven players tally a hit each, including a double from senior Kat Lively and Harless.

Lively, juniors Breigh Renner and Stephanie Seewer and freshman Kayla Jones posted a stolen base each.

Trippett drew the start for the Gold and Blue in the circle, pitching three innings and striking out three Trailblazers. Wilson earned the win, giving up just one hit while retiring five batters.
