MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The WVU Tech (0-1) volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision (25-23, 25-27, 8-25, 25-21, 9-15) Tuesday to the University of Pikeville (0-1) in the Baisi Athletic Center.
For the match, senior
Jacque Carroll earned a double-double of 14 kills and 17 digs while marking a block and an ace. Freshman
Ana Monteiro had a strong debut setting for the Golden Bears, marking 21 assists and two aces. At the net, junior
Michala Dean had a team-high 2.5 blocks while recording the double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs.
Senior
Chelsea Dean tallied ten kills and eight digs for Tech while junior
Brianna Whaley had 12 digs and three assists. Freshman
Allison Humphreys played her first collegiate match and put down six kills while helping out on three block assists.
The Golden Bears return to action September 1 when they host Bluefield College (Virginia) in Montgomery, West Virginia, first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
