FORT KENT, Maine — WVU Tech (2-0) men's soccer has stayed undefeated in their young season after defeating USCAA foe University of Maine at Fort Kent (8-2), 2-1 Tuesday afternoon.
The last time the two teams faced each other the Golden Bears took a 2-0 victory in 2014 to claim the USCAA National Championship for back-to-back seasons. Tech also defeated the Bengals in 2013 for the National Championship.
Sophomore
Francisco Neto scored both goals to help Tech secure the win. Neto now has four goals after two games for the Gold and Blue. Freshman
Harry Reilly and junior
Prince Idornigie dished the assists to Neto in minute three and 19 respectively.
"It was an amazing performance," boasted interim head coach
John Dunn. "We played hard and stayed strong despite a lot of pressure. There is still a lot of improvement to come, so we are excited as a team."
Sophomore goalkeeper
Pol Bernaldo (1-0) recorded the win after marking four saves and allowing just one goal.
Tech will finish up there four-game road trip by traveling to Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse Thursday before heading to Pennsylvania to face Penn State York on Friday.
