MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — Junior Elizabeth Evans and sophomore Julie Conway each marked a new career-high Tuesday evening in the Baisi Athletic Center and WVU Tech women's basketball snapped a five-game losing streak by scoring an 80-79 victory over KIAC foe Indiana University East.

The Golden Bears are now 7-11, 2-5 (KIAC) this season while the Red Wolves hold a record of 10-9, 5-2 (KIAC).

Evans shot 10-for-13 from the field including a 4-for-6 effort from beyond the arc towards her new career-high. The Williamson, West Virginia native also marked two assists and steals and a block and rebound each.

Conway enjoyed her new career-high by pouring in 13 points. Conway was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line while pulling down two boards and dishing two assists.

Senior LaKisha Adkins and freshman Alexandra Combs had 11 points each to round out Tech's top contributors. Adkins took a team-high three steals in addition to six rebounds and four assists. Combs pulled down six rebounds while blocking two Red Wolves balls in 24 minutes of play.

Freshman Savannah Shamblin put out a game-high seven assists to go with five points and four rebounds while senior Courtney Fisher finished the game with eight points and seven rebounds.

As a team, the Gold and Blue had its best shooting day of the season at the foul line, going 11-for-12 (91.7 percent) as a unit to top their opponent's 12-for-15 (80.0 percent) effort. Tech forced 23 Red Wolves' turnovers while committing just 17 themselves.

Tia King scored a game-high 25 points to pace IU East.

WVU Tech is now slated to host Carlow University for another KIAC match-up, Saturday, January 23. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Montgomery, West Virginia.
