MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — The WVU Tech men's basketball team lost to the University of Rio Grande in conference action Tuesday evening, 81-68. The Golden Bears are now 13-8, 5-3 (KIAC) this season while the RedStorm improve to 15-6, 5-2 (KIAC).
Tech had five players in double-figures with senior
Eddie Gordon, junior
Paul Stone and sophomore
Ryan Atkins posting 14 points each to lead the team. Sophomore
Juwuan Wilson and junior
Matthew Kallead finished with ten points each.
Junior
Patrick Gnagbo pulled down a team-high 11 boards while Atkins had eight and Stone seven in the loss.
The team was held to 35.5 percent (27-for-76) shooting from the field and 31.8 percent (7-for-22) from three-point range. Tech did shoot an efficient 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the foul line.
The Gold and Blue will return to the hardwood Saturday and Sunday for KIAC match-ups against Ohio Christian University and Carlow University respectively. Tipoff in the Baisi Athletic Center is scheduled for 4 p.m. both days.
