Golden Bear Volleyball Ready for RSC Tournament

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- WVU Tech volleyball enters the River States Conference (RSC) Volleyball Tournament as the No. 4 (East Division) seed and will face No. 1 (West Division) Indiana University Kokomo Friday, November 11 at 12:30 p.m. at host school Cincinnati Christian University.

Tech finished the regular season 22-18, 6-10 (RSC) while the Cougars hold a record of 23-7, 13-3 (RSC). In the their last meeting on October 22, the Golden Bears fell to IU Kokomo 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-23.

RECORDS
  • Tech is 8-6 on the road this season including a 3-1 victory at Bluefield College in a non-conference match-up to finish out the regular season.
  • The Cougars posted a perfect 5-0 record in their last five match-ups, all RSC contests.

GOLDEN BEAR NOTES
  • WVU Tech's 22 wins in 2016 are the most in program history (since at least 2007) with the next being nine in 2013.
  • The team averages 11.07 kills per set and 10.01 service aces per set.
  • The Gold and Blue have picked up a total of 2,301 digs this season and averages 15.44 per set.

  • Junior Bailey Lotozo leads the team on the attack with 412 in 2016, giving her a No. 35 ranking in the nation (NAIA DI).
  • Lotozo is also ranked No. 39 in the NAIA DI with 3.610 kills per set.
  • On defense, senior libero Michala Dean is currently No. 22 (NAIA DI) for 648 total digs.
  • Dean averages 4.5 digs per set.

SCOUTING MIDWAY
  • The Eagles currently sit in first in the RSC (West Division) with a conference record of 13-3.
  • The team averages 12.68 kills per set and 17.31 digs per set.
  • Kokomo's Lindi Thomas leads the Cougars with 3.24 kills per set and 305 kills.
  • Their defense is led by Kaleigh Ensley who has posted 506 digs in 2016, averaging 5.16 per set.
