Jephte Jeanpaul scored falls and WVU Tech wrestling split a triangular Saturday in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Golden Bears defeated Southern Virginia University 31-18 and fell to Liberty University 40-12.
In the loss to Liberty, Jeanpaul earned six points for the Golden Bears with a fall over Andrew Burgette at 157 pounds. At 197, Nance pinned his SVU opponent, Caleb West, at 4:48.
Junior
Corey Palmer won at 165 by major decision over Jared Watts (SVU) while senior Paul Gonzalez picked up a win at 133 with a 9-4 decision over Jayson Cody (SVU). The remainder of the Gold and Blue's team points against Southern Virginia were earned by forfeit.
Tech, who is 2-3 in duals this season, will hit the mat again next year when they travel to Lexington, Virginia for the Washington and Lee Invitational January 7, 2017.
