MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball is now 2-1 in River States Conference (RSC) play after a 71-64 win against Ohio Christian University Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears and Trailblazers both hold an overall record of 8-4 while OCU moves to 0-2 in conference play.
Sophomore
Zjhane West and senior
Cheyanna Lusk pulled down ten boards each while marking 19 and 17 points respectively to lead the Gold and Blue. West finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line while also blocking a career-high five shots and dishing five assists. Lusk was 3-for-6 from three-point range and grabbed a game-high three steals in the win.
Sophomore
Savannah Shamblin had 12 points, four assists and two rebounds to round out Tech's double-figure scorers.
The Golden Bears held their opponent to 29.6 percent (21-for-71) shooting from the field while finishing 41.7 percent (25-for-60) themselves. The Trailblazers outrebounded Tech, 46-44, while both teams committed 15 miscues.
The squad will continue their home stay on Thursday as they host Newport News Apprentice School before returning to RSC play when No. 21 Indiana University East comes to Montgomery, West Virginia on Saturday.
