PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech women's basketball captured their seventh consecutive victory, the best for the program since at least 2007, and defeated Carlow University in River States Conference (RSC) play Friday evening. The Golden Bears are 7-3, 1-0 (RSC) this season and snapped the Celtics winning streak who now hold a record of 4-1, 0-1 (RSC).
Freshman
Carlie Biehl-Wilson led the team with a double-double effort of 11 points and ten rebounds to go with a block. Six of Biehl-Wilson's boards were on the offensive end of the floor.
Sophomore
Alexandra Combs went 3-for-4 from three-point range towards her ten points while pulling down six rebounds. Fellow classmate
Zjhane West finished with nine points while
Savannah Shamblin had seven to round out Tech's top offensive contributors. West also recorded four assists and two blocks while Shamblin dished a game-high six assists.
Senior
Cheyanna Lusk marked six points to go with five rebounds and five assists in the victory. Senior
Brooke Gee had seven rebounds, two blocks and two points.
The team finished 24-for-62 (38.7 percent) from the field while holding the Celtics to just 17-for-67 (25.4 percent) shooting from the floor. Tech had 27 points off the bench and posted 14 points in the paint.
The Gold and Blue will continue RSC play in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania tomorrow, Saturday when they face Point Park University.
