GRAYSON, Kentucky -- The WVU Tech men's basketball team defeated Kentucky Christian University 81-59 in non-conference action Tuesday night. The Golden Bears improve to 5-4 on the season while the Knights fall to 3-6.
Juniors
Ryan Atkins and
Elisha Boone led the team with 15 points each. Atkins, who was 5-for-8 from the foul line, posted a season- and game-high eight assists to go with five rebounds. Boone finished 7-for-18 from field towards his second double-double in as many games with ten rebounds.
Freshmen
Kievonn Banks and
Junior Arrey both came off the bench to round out Tech scorers in double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively. Banks finished with perfect shooting from all over the court including 5-for-5 from the field, 3-for-3 from the bonus line and 1-for-1 from beyond the arc.Â
As a team, the Golden Bears shot 43.7 percent (31-for-21) from the floor and 75.0 percent (15-for-20) from the foul line. Tech limited Kentucky Christian to 5-for-18 from three-point range.
The Gold and Blue return home Thursday to host Appalachian Bible College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Baisi Athletic Center.
