LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia — WVU Tech softball lost a pair of games in Lawrenceville, Georgia Saturday afternoon after facing No. 21 Georgia Gwinnett College and Brenau University. The Golden Bears dropped game one to the Grizzlies, 9-4 and fell in the nightcap, 13-8 to the Golden Tigers.
Senior
Stephanie Seewer had an outstanding day at the plate, finishing with two doubles and a homerun, going 4-for-7 while at bat including four RBI and three runs.
Game One | WVU Tech 4, No. 21 Georgia Gwinnett 9 Seewer and sophomore
Kayla Harbin tallied two hits each towards Tech's six hits. Harbin also recorded a run while Seewer posted three RBI.
In the circle, freshman
Hannah Burke pitched 4.1 innings for the loss, striking out two while scattering ten hits and five earned runs. Fellow classmate
Becky Rusch saw 0.1 innings, giving up four hits and four earned runs while senior
Genna Trippett finished the game, walking one and giving up two hits.
Game Two | WVU Tech 8, Brenau 13As a team, Tech went 13-for-33 at the plate, including 3-for-4 efforts from sophomore
Kayla Jones and junior
Lexi Huck. Huck notched a double and brought in three runs while Jones scored two runs and had an RBI.
Freshman
Skylar Connelly and sophomore
Baylee Harless had a stolen base each.
Junior
Mackenzie Wilson drew the start pitching in game two, putting in 4.0 innings of work while giving up four hits and five earned runs. Wilson struck out five batters while walking seven. Burke finished the game with two strike outs and three earned runs.
The team will look to earn their first victory of this young season when they face both teams again tomorrow, Sunday. First pitch against the Golden Tigers is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
