HICKORY, North Carolina — WVU Tech baseball went 1-2 with Lenoir-Rhyne University this weekend in a three-game series on a field in Hickory, North Carolina. The Golden Bears (1-2) took game one on Saturday 4-3 before falling in the final two 13-8 and 25-2 to the Bears (10-2).
In the series finale, the Gold and Blue managed ten hits with senior
Tommy Weaver recording the team's first home run of the season. Fellow classmate
Dylan Harvey marked a double after a 1-for-4 effort at the plate.
Juniors
Marcus Rodriguez and
Tanner Levine had two hits each while freshman
Anferny Ellis crossed the plate for the team's final score of the game.
Senior
Josh Hudson (0-1) pitched 1.2 innings for the loss, allowing four hits and six earned runs. Senior
Kyle Sager was the only Golden Bear on the mound that was able to strike out an opponent Sunday, marking two after 1.1 innings of work.
WVU Tech will return to the field Tuesday, February 23 when they travel to Glenville State College.
