HARTSVILLE, South Carolina — WVU Tech softball is enjoying a three-game winning streak after going 3-0 at the Coker Spring Tournament by defeating Lees-McRae College 10-5 Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears (4-2) were down 2-5 in the fifth inning before having big sixth and seventh innings to come out on top 10-5.
Tech defeated West Virginia State University 6-2 before taking down the University of Charleston 2-1 on Friday. The win streak is the longest for the softball program since April 13, 2014.
Freshman
Hannah Burke (2-2) gave up just four hits and one earned run for the win as WVU Tech scored eight runs over the final two innings to defeat Lees-McRae 10-5. Sophomore
Kyla Shull drew the start in the circle, scattering two hits and three earned runs while striking out two.
Seewer notched her second home run of the season in the sixth to drive in two runs while freshman
Skylar Connelly and sophomore
Baylee Harless marked a double each. Connelly drove in two runs with her two-base hit, scoring sophomore
MiKayla Craze and senior
Breigh Renner in the top of the seventh.
Senior
Megan Blythe finished 1-for-2 at the plate, scoring a run and recording a stolen base.
The Gold and Blue play Columbus College on the road Sunday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
