Women's Basketball Bested by Brescia, 96-86

OWENSBORO, Kentucky — Three Golden Bears scored 20+ points but the WVU Tech women's basketball team dropped a road conference game to Brescia University Tuesday evening, 96-86. Tech was lead by freshman Savannah Shamblin who posted 25 points while fellow classmate Alexandra Combs and senior Courtney Fisher scored 21 points each.

The Golden Bears are now 9-15 overall and 4-9 in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) play this season while the Bearcats improve to 16-12, 11-4 (KIAC).

Fisher finished with a double-double, posting a game-high 18 rebounds while Shamblin pulled down six boards and Combs five. Shamblin also finished with a game-high three assists for the Golden Bears.

The team finished 35-for-76 from the field while grabbing 39 rebounds compared to Brescia's 36.

The Gold and Blue will return to action Thursday when they travel to Wilmore, Kentucky to face Asbury University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
