CAMPBELLSVILLE, Kentucky — WVU Tech baseball dropped an 8-5 decision to Campbellsville University in 11 innings Monday afternoon in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The Golden Bears (17-6) had a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth before the Tigers (16-9) came back to force extra innings for the victory.
Junior
Jayson Sykora drew the start on the mound for Tech, giving up just two hits and one earned run in 5.1 innings of work. Sykora retired one batter while walking two. Fellow classmate
Tanner Levine (0-1-1) gave up just one hit and three earned runs in the loss. Levine pitched 1.2 innings.
On offense, Levine finished with three hits, including a double, one RBI and one run scored. Junior
Brady Groesbeck also marked a double, driving in two runs and one run scored.
The team will next host the College of St. Joseph's for a three-game series in East Bank, West Virginia. The home stand will begin Friday with one-nine inning game and finish on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
