PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — WVU Tech baseball fell in game one 3-2 after eight innings before dropping the night cap 6-1 to Point Park University in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) play Friday afternoon. The action that took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was the beginning of a four-game series and this week's KIAC Games of the Week.
The losses drop Tech's record to 17-11, 9-5 (KIAC) while the Pioneers are now 16-13, 10-4 (KIAC).
On the mound, junior
Austin Southcott (3-3) pitched a complete game one for the loss while fellow classmate
Jayson Sykora (3-1) was credited the loss after 4.2 innings in game two.

Doug Prather recorded one hit and two RBIs in Tech's extra inning loss. With a single up the middle in the first inning, Prather drove in senior
Dylan Harvey while posting a RBI in the sixth inning by reaching on a fielder's choice.

Roy Suzuki each recorded a hit along with Prather to lead the Golden Bears' offense. Harvey's and Weaver's hits were doubles.
Suzuki added to his stolen base season total (3) by grabbing one in the top of the sixth.
Southcott finished with four strikeouts after facing 32 batters. The Manassas, Virginia native gave up nine hits and two earned runs while walking two batters.

Marcus Rodriguez (3) each had a multi-hit game including a double by the freshman, Suzuki.
Harvey's single to center field in the fifth inning brought Suzuki in for Tech's only score in the final game Friday.
Harvey and Rodriguez also grabbed a stolen base each.
Sykora struck out three batters while scattering five hits and six earned runs during his time on the bump.
The teams will complete the series tomorrow, Saturday at Point Park. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12 p.m.
