SMITHERS, West Virginia — Seniors
Genna Trippett (game one) and
Megan Blythe (game two) recorded a home run each and WVU Tech softball split a doubleheader with Carlow University Friday in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) play. The Celtics (8-4, 2-2 KIAC) took game one 6-5 before the Golden Bears (12-17, 2-2 KIAC) won the night cap, 6-2.
In the circle, sophomore
Kyla Shull (2-2) was dealt the loss after 3.1 innings in the first game and junior
Mackenzie Wilson (5-5) threw to a win and complete game in the final contest.

At the plate, freshman
Rachel Rusch and sophomore
MaKayla Waugh each had a multi-hit game to lead the Gold and Blue. Rusch finished 2-for-3 with one run scored while Waugh was a perfect 3-for-3 and recorded two RBI.
Trippett's lone hit was the home run while sophomore
Kayla Harbin marked a triple and Waugh, Blythe and sophomore
MiKayla Craze each had a double.
Freshman
Skylar Connelly posted two RBI and a stolen base for Tech.
Shull scattered five hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters after 3.1 innings of work. Freshman
Hannah Burke drew the start in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings and giving up six hits and three earned runs.

Baylee Harless followed that up in the third inning, hitting a single to center field and scoring Blythe and R. Rusch.
Tech's final two scores came in the fourth inning when senior
Stephanie Seewer doubled to right center to bring in Blythe and then singled to the opposite side to help score R. Rusch in the sixth inning.
Wilson earned her fifth win this season by retiring five batters and giving up just two earned runs and seven hits.
The team will return to action with more conference play when Point Park University travels to Smithers, West Virginia tomorrow, Saturday for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Terry E. Willis Field.
