OWENSBORO, Kentucky — The WVU Tech softball team finished 1-2 at the double-elimination KIAC Tournament in Owensboro, Kentucky Friday.
The No. 5 seed Golden Bears earned a 6-0 shutout over No. 4 Carlow University before falling to No. 1 University of Rio Grande 6-0 and No. 3 Point Park University 8-3. The Gold and Blue finish their 2016 campaign with an overall record of 21-29.
Tech managed a team batting average of .262 and totaled 22 hits during tournament play. The combined ERA for junior

Trippett finished with three RBI, a double and a 2-for-4 effort at the plate to help lead Tech to their lone victory Friday.

Megan Blythe marked two runs scored off a triple, a double and a stolen base while sophomore
Lexi Huck also had a multi-hit game with two hits to go towards a RBI.

MaKayla Waugh registered a RBI off a sacrifice fly.
In the circle, Wilson (9-10) pitched a complete game shutout for the Golden Bears, giving up just four hits while striking out one batter and walking one.

The team posted six hits in the loss including two each from sophomores
Kayla Harbin and
MiKayla Craze. Blythe and Huck also had a hit in the game.
Trippett threw for five innings for the loss, scattering five hits, three earned runs and two strike outs after earning the start.
Burke put in one inning of work and allowed two hits and one earned run.

Rachel Rusch had a RBI each in the fifth inning where Tech garnered all three of their runs.

Wilson drew the start and earned the loss after 0.2 innings, six hits, three earned runs and one strike out.
B. Rusch gave up seven hits and two earned runs while Schull struck out four Pioneers in 3.0 innings of work.
