SMITHERS, West Virginia — The WVU Tech softball team split a two-game set with King University in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Terry E. Willis Field. The Golden Bears took the first one 5-4 after eight innings before falling 13-0 (five innings) to the Tornado in the final game of the series. Tech is now 13-20 while King holds a record of 11-23.

Genna Trippett hit her ninth home run of the season in the win and sophomore
MaKayla Waugh marked a double as both drove in two runs each to help lead the Gold and Blue to an extra inning victory. In the circle, freshman

Megan Blythe who drove in one run while they had two RBI each.

Hannah Burke drew the start pitching for the Golden Bears, scattering six hits and four earned runs while striking out one batter after 5.0 innings in the circle.

Becky Rusch. Wilson was dealt the loss after 3.1 innings, seven hits, two earned runs and two strike outs.
The team will next host West Liberty University Thursday in Smithers, West Virginia. The first pitch of the doublheader is scheduled for 2 p.m.Â
