EAST BANK, West Virginia — WVU Tech baseball earned a doubleheader sweep against Bluefield State College on Senior Day this Sunday afternoon. The Golden Bears (38-14) defeated the Big Blues (12-33) 3-2 in walk-off fashion before taking the final game 4-2 in five innings.

In Tech's third consecutive victory, junior
Trevor Lam hit a single to center field that plated freshman
Roy Suzuki for the win. Suzuki entered the game as a pinch runner for senior
Josh Hudson who reached with a one-bag ball to left field. A single from senior
Doug Prather advanced Suzuki to third.
Game two was settled after five innings due to lightning in East Bank, West Virginia as junior
Jayson Sykora (6-1) pitched his way to a win after scattering five hits and two earned runs in the complete game.

Lam had a standout game, finishing with two RBI including a run batted in off the game-winning hit. The Grottoes, Virginia native also marked a stolen base along with Harvey.
Harvey now brings his total to 26 stolen bags this season and is currently ranked No. 24 in the nation (NAIA DI) for his efforts. The senior finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Junior
Brady Groesbeck posted a RBI in the first inning when he singled to the middle of the field and drove in Harvey.
Hudson drew the start on the mound, pitching five innings and striking out one opponent. Tucker (4-1-1) was given the win after 1.1 innings of work, retiring one batter via strikes while giving one hit and zero runs.

Groesbeck and fellow classmate
Tanner Levine had two hits and a double each while Levine also posted a RBI and a run scored and Groesbeck crossed the plate twice.
Hudson was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI while Prather finished with a hit and a RBI. On the bases, Harvey and Levine took a bag each.
Sykora now holds an ERA of 4.67 and managed four strike outs in his sixth win this season.
Tech finished the regular conference season with a 21-7 record and are currently second in the KIAC as they prepare for the KIAC Tournament in Kingsport, Tennessee next. The team will play on Wednesday at a time and against an opponent to be announced at a later date.
