MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — The WVU Tech volleyball team started the season with a pair of victories Saturday at the Tech Tri-Match, defeating both University of Cincinnati Clermont (3-0) and Alice Lloyd College (3-0). The wins give the Golden Bears a quick 2-0 winning record to begin their 2016 campaign. Â
Tech took match one versus the Cougars 25-14, 35-33 and 25-22. In the nightcap, the Gold and Blue and the Eagles garnered scores of 25-5, 25-11 and 25-14.
Freshman
Konstantina Pateli combined for 61 assists and 15 aces to help lead Tech Saturday. The Athens, Greece native also had a hitting percentage of .857 (6-for-7) while picking up 11 digs total.

Junior
Bailey Lotozo led the offense for Tech, recording 17 kills and three aces. Lotozo also finished with nine digs and a block.
Senior
Keyonna Morrow produced 11 kills for the Golden Bears while freshman
Carolina Bologna marked ten kills on 18 attempts.
Handling the ball for Tech, Pateli dished out 44 assists while getting nine digs, five kills and two aces. Sophomore
Ana Monteiro and freshman
Alice Amitrano dug up 13 balls each. Monteiro also had a kill and an ace.
At the net, freshmen
Riley Bocan and
Carolina Bologna put down a solo block each.
Tech outhit their opponent with 50 kills compared to their 33 while also leading in aces (9-6), assists (45-30) and digs (49-42).

Pateli led the match with 13 aces while producing 17 assists in the win. Sophomore
Kayla Hill and Lotozo had five kills each while Morrow and Bologna put down four kills a piece.
Freshman
Emily Kidd and Hill marked a solo block each to lead the team.
The squad will return to the court Tuesday, August 23 when they host the University of Pikeville at 6 p.m. in the Baisi Athletic Center.
