WVU Tech Picks Up 4-2 Road Win at Shawnee State

Women's Soccer

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The WVU Tech women's soccer team scored often in its fourth win of the season, defeating Shawnee State University 4-2 Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Bears move to 4-1 while the Bears hold a record of 0-1-2.

Sophomore Brianna Enger posted one of her two goals of the game off an assist from senior Alyssa Capon in the 21st minute. Fellow classmate Caitlin Foster gave the Gold and Blue the lead, 2-1, with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute and the teams ended up going into the half even at 2-2.

In the second half, Tech's defense was able to shutdown the Bears' offense, leaving them with two goals in the match. The team's third goal came from junior Tristen Kilman after the perfect pass from junior Katrina Fairbairn in the 33rd minute.

Enger posted Tech's final goal and her sixth this season. The assist was credited to Foster in minute 50.

Senior Martha Reyna, who was named the River States Conference Defender of the Week Tuesday, is now 4-1 in goal this season. Reyna marked one save in 90 minutes of play.

Tech will look to build off this strong showing when they travel to University of the Cumberlands Saturday, September 17 for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
