MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- In a game that featured eight lead changes and six tied scores, the WVU Tech women's basketball team suffered a 66-56 River States Conference (RSC) loss to Indiana University Southeast Friday evening. The Golden Bears are now 9-6, 2-3 (RSC) while the Grenadiers boost their record to 8-6, 3-2 (RSC).
Tech was led by sophomore
Savannah Shamblin with 12 points while senior
Cheyanna Lusk and freshman
Laura Requena finished with eight points each and sophomore
Alexandra Combs, freshman
Carlie Biehl-Wilson and senior
Brooke Gee posted seven each. Shamblin also tallied a game-high six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
On the boards, Biehl-Wilson pulled down a team-high eight boards while Combs and Requena had five each.
IU Southeast's Ashley Lyninger marked a game-high 16 points while Jocelyn Mousty led under the basket with 14 rebounds.
Shooting 45.5 (15-for-33) percent from the field, the Gold and Blue had a 39-23 lead over the Grenadiers after the first half. IU Southeast answered back in the final half, holding the home team to just 40.7 percent (11-for-27) shooting while picking up their offense including an 11-for-16 effort from the bonus line.
The team will return to action tomorrow, Saturday when they host Brescia University in more conference action.
