RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- WVU Tech and University of Rio Grande both remain undefeated in the River States Conference (RSC) after ending a double overtime battle even, 1-1. The Golden Bears are now 9-4-1, 4-0-1 (RSC) in 2017 while the RedStorm move to 7-5-1, 4-0-1 (RSC).
Tech produced the first goal of the match-up after senior
Ruby Bingham sent a corner kick in which connected with sophomore
Miriam Cortez. With the Gold and Blue's lone goal of the game, Cortez recorded her first career score in the 71
st minute.
Off the bounce back of a previous RedStorm attempt, Chase Davis posted Rio's goal a little over a minute later to even the game and mark the final score of the contest.
Tech and Rio finished with seven shots on frame including five from Cortez and seven from Davis.
The teams finished with six stops in goal each including five from senior
Martha Reyna (9-4-1) who protected Tech's net for 110 minutes.
WVU Tech will next travel to Point Park University on Friday, October 20 for more conference action.
