Moncayo lifts WVU Tech past Carlow, 2-0

Women's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Freshman Domenica Moncayo marked her first and second collegiate goals to help WVU Tech blank Carlow University 2-0 in River States Conference (RSC) action Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears, who are tied for first in the RSC with Asbury, now hold a record of 10-5-1, 5-1-1 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 7-6-2, 2-4-2 (RSC).

Moncayo's first goal came in the 83rd minute from an unassisted header she followed up off the post. The second and final score of the game came in minute 85 when the Cumbaya, Quito, Ecuador native connected with sophomore Clarice Taylor who had the assist.

In goal, senior keeper Martha Reyna made four stops in her third shutout in 2017 after 90 minutes of play.

The team combined for 13 shots on goal including a team-high three from senior Olivia Mantohbang. The Celtics finished with four shots on frame.

The Gold and Blue will stay at home for their final two regular season contests when they host Asbury (October 26) and Cincinnati Christian University (October 28).
