MIDWAY, Kentucky -- WVU Tech volleyball split a pair of matches, 1-1, in Midway, Kentucky Saturday afternoon after defeating host school, Midway, 3-1 and dropping a 3-0 decision to Asbury University. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 22-13, 5-10 (RSC).
Tech defeated Midway with scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-16 while falling to Asbury 25-27, 22-25 and 17-25.
Sophomore
Katelyn Byrd led the attack Saturday, finishing with 29 kills. Junior
Ana Monteiro marked 20 kills while freshman
Lauren McCall tallied 16 kills.
Sophomore
Konstantina Pateli handled the ball for the Gold and Blue, dishing out 68 assists to go with five service aces. Pateli is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation (NAIA) for 68 total service aces and No. 19 for total assists (1,098).
On defense, sophomore
Alice Amitrano helped lead the team with 19 digs while freshman
Sawyer Hawgood picked up 18 digs.
The Golden Bears will finish out their conference schedule on Tuesday, October 31 when they travel to University of Rio Grande for a 7 p.m. match.
