BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's soccer celebrated their seniors and defeated Cincinnati Christian University, 3-0, Saturday afternoon to clench first place in the River States Conference and end the regular season. The Golden Bears move to 12-5-1, 7-1-1 (RSC) in 2017 while the Eagles hold a record of 7-7-3, 3-3-2 (RSC).
Freshman
Johanna Ribacke scored Tech's first goal, posting an unassisted score in the 30
th minute from 30 yards out.
Fellow classmate
Meghan Goldman posted two goals (48' and 65') in the win. The goals were assisted by sophomore
Maria Gonzalez and Ribacke.
In goal, senior
Martha Reyna (12-4-1) finished with five saves after 90 minutes of play. Cincinnati Christian's keeper, Kendra Steepe, was forced to make six stops while allowing three goals.
With a first place finish, WVU Tech receives a first-round bye and will host a RSC opponent on November 8 in Beckley, West Virginia for a semi-final of the conference championship.
